A recently completed HydroChute project involved removing damaged bin chute hoppers in a residential building, and replacing them with new 4-hour fire rated hoppers. The existing hoppers failed the smoke test and were not compliant with fire safety regulations.

The smoke tests were conducted to the principle of a method specified in BS 476-31.1, which measures the ability of the test specimen to resist the penetration of smoke in the event of a fire. All these tests were carried out by the world’s leading authority on building safety standards: Building Research Establishment (BRE).
